The practical answer
What the status means
Pennsylvania publishes an official list of interactive gaming certificate holders and authorized sites.
Do not collapse these categories
- Online casino: slots and casino-style table games offered over the internet.
- Sports betting: wagers on sporting events; authorization does not automatically include casino games.
- Online poker: peer-to-peer poker can be licensed without a broader casino market.
- Offshore and sweepstakes sites: availability is not the same as state authorization or consumer protection.
Sports betting and sweepstakes in Pennsylvania
- Sports betting: Online sports betting is legal and live (online since 2019). See licensed sportsbooks.
- Sweepstakes casinos: No state ban was in force at our last check, though operators keep their own exclusion lists. Read the sweeps guide.
How to verify before playing
- Start with the state regulator, not an operator's footer or an affiliate review.
- Match the exact website or app name to the approved operator list.
- Confirm age, physical-location and self-exclusion rules.
- Read the bonus wagering, withdrawal and maximum-bet terms before depositing.
